CAD(キャド)とは...
CADとは、Computer Aided Designの頭文字を取った言葉です。
訳すと「コンピューター支援による設計」を意味します。
目的の形状に加工するために、コンピューター上で設計・図面作成を行う
機能を持ったソフトウェアです。
CADは大きく分けて、平面上に製図を行う
「2D CAD」と立体空間上に製図を行う「3D CAD」の2つの種類があります。2D CADでは時間を要する複雑な設計であっても、
3D CADであれば曲面や曲線などの表現が難しい形状も容易に製図できます。
CAM(キャム)とは...
CAMとはComputer Aided Manufacturingの頭文字を取った言葉で、訳すと
「コンピューター支援による製造」を意味します。CADで作成された形状情報をもとにコンピューター上でプログラムを作成し、
工作機械にデータ入力して実加工するために作られました。

CAD／CAMとは、両方の機能を併せ持つシステムです。CAD／CAMの導入により、精密かつ正確にプログラミングする事ができるため、
加工精度の向上と時間短縮につながります。
